In recent years, The Cure Alliance (TCA) has proudly contributed to clinical trials of stem cell infusions (MSC) in severe COVID-19, and in chronic kidney disease (CKD), providing critically important information on the safety, efficacy, and mechanism of actions of these cells, and making now possible to test novel strategies to help prevent and treat viral, autoimmune, diabetes, kidney, neurodegenerative and other age-related diseases.
The TCA is now also supporting two additional critically important clinical trials, one in Pancreatic Cancer with potential applications for the treatment of other malignancies, and in islet transplantation for diabetes, to replace toxic anti-rejection drugs currently required for life, to prevent immune rejection.
This Holiday season and with the end of the year approaching, we would like to thank you for your support that allowed us to move forward with important projects that could change healthcare as we know it today. If you would like to consider renewing your support with a tax- reimbursable donation, we have two additional important projects planned for 2024:
1. Healthspan Project: to prolong healthy lifespan, preventing that people become patients, by early detection of risk factors and early signs of “silent” disease progression, years before clinical diagnosis. We are now also studying similar strategies to prevent disease recurrence after a successful cure (e.g., cell therapies for diabetes, neurodegenerative, lung, kidney, viral and autoimmune diseases).
2. Immunomodulation and Immune Tolerance Induction: to prevent transplant rejection without the requirement for life-long recipient immunosuppression. The proposed strategy utilizes a combination of immunomodulatory cells with the local delivery at the transplant site of tolerogenic molecules, using a novel biologic drug delivery system that was initially developed in Europe for cancer treatment, and that is now ready to be tested to eliminate toxic anti-rejection drugs following transplantation.
